Potassium Permanganate is a great oxidizer which kills off most unwanted organisms and/or diseases. We often bath our Koi fish individually in Potassium Permanganate, depending on what treatment is needed.
Further studies have also suggested that regularly oxidizing your pond does carry certain benefits (over and above it’s obvious function to remove unwanted bacteria). Given Potassium Permanganate essentially dissolves all the additional organic content in your pond water, it can greatly improve a ponds filtration.
Allowing the bacteria to concentrate on ammonia and nitrate as appose to also dealing with a whole host of non-essential organic compounds.
Dosage & Directions For Use
Wear gloves and goggles when handling Potassium Permanganate. Do not inhale the fumes and always handle in a well-ventilated area. Once the correct dosage is measured, pour directly into the main pond.
Potassium Permanganate is ideal for use in a bath as appose to adding it to your pond, depending on what is being treated. Special care should be taken when introducing Potassium Permanganate into a fish bath and/or pond water as it has the potential to kill your fish when the incorrect dosage is used.
Dosage: 2mg per litre.
Storage: Store below 25°C in a dry place out of direct sunlight.
