Kohaku Koi Variety
"ALL KOI COLLECTIONS BEGIN & END WITH A KOHAKU"
The Kohaku is the most common Koi found in all collections. It's characterised by the red (Hi) markings found on it's white skin. The red markings are presented in either a stepped (Danmoyo) or continuous (Moyo) pattern.
The Common Danmoyo patterns are:
(Nidan) | (Sandan) | (Yondan) |
---|---|---|
A two stepped pattern / 2 red (Hi) markings. | A three stepped pattern / 3 red (Hi) markings. | A four stepped pattern / 4 red (Hi) markings. |
The best colours in Kohaku are found when the red (Hi) pattern is shown against exemplary white. If the Kohaku has a yellowish tint to it the red (Hi) pattern will show as inferior irrespective of the quality of the red (Hi) pattern itself.
