Methylene Blue

Considered as the ‘traditional’ medication for Koi Keepers. It’s main use is to reduce the spread of bacterial and fungal infections on fish eggs. That being said it can be found as an ingredient in most more effective medicines that are used in the treatment of external pathogens.

Methylene Blue remains an invaluable asset to the Koi Keeper and can be employed in against Ichthyophthirius (white spot), skin and gill flukes, funguses, velvet (Oodinium) and most other external parasites.

Dosage & Directions For Use

Koi Keepers generally add enough Methylene Blue solution to make the pond water a very blue hue. (Larger dosage is not harmful to Koi fish in any way).

Methylene Blue can permanently stain nets as well as any silicone piping (Not intended as a disinfectant for nets and/or equipment). It is also toxic to pond plant life.

It’s effectiveness is reduced by any suspended dissolved organics

Not intended for prolonged periods of use as it can kill beneficial filtration bacteria.

Dosage: Add enough to turn the water a deep blue.
Storage: Store below 25°C in a dry place out of direct sunlight.

Caution: Not for human consumption. Keep away from children.
