Showa Koi Variety
"THE SECOND OF THE TRI-COLOURED KOI"
The Showa has its roots in the Ki Utsuri and the Kohaku, it took many years of cross breeding the Showa with the Kohaku in order to evolve the yellowish colour (Ki) into the red (Hi) that it is today. Because the Showa is a black fish, the black (Sumi) should be bold and prominent. The red (Hi) must not be skimpy either: it should be uniform and dark with clear edges. White markings should be snow white and not too large.
